Get Involved and Support Easter Seals!

Helping people with disabilities is what we do at Easter Seals... but we can't do it alone. One way to get involved is participating in an Easter Seals event. Walk, run, enjoy a root beer float, dance at a gala, bid in a silent auction -- there's something for everyone. Visit this site often for updated information on events in your area!

The Wise Guys

OKLAHOMA CITY The Wise Guys, an Oklahoma City-based rock band, will be performing this Friday evening, October 2, from 8:30pm to midnight to help raise money for Easter Seals of Oklahoma and entertain patrons. The outdoor concert will take place at Louie’s Lakeside, 9401 Lake Hefner Parkway at Britton Road in Northwest Oklahoma City.

Friday’s concert will be the finale’ show in the ‘Louie’s Lakeside Summer 2009 Concert Series featuring The Wise Guys’, which included nearly a dozen outdoor concert performances over the past five months by the band on the patio at Louie’s overlooking Lake Hefner.

The band is well-known not only for their unique musical styling but also for a special brand of on-stage humor orchestrated by the band’s front man, Randy Colton, better known as TV’s funny pitch man, ‘Norman Nobody’. “The setting for a concert on the outdoor stage at Louie’s is incredible,” said Colton. “We’ve had so much fun all summer out here, we’re really looking forward to this finale’ show to combine our special brand of music, zaniness and audience-participation antics with a great cause like Easter Seals,” said Colton.

Wise Guys singer Jeb Reid noted that Friday night’s concert is fully supported by Louie’s ownership and staff. “For each pepperoni pizza they sell Friday night, Louie’s will donate $1 to Easter Seals.”

Additionally, a Community ‘Garage’ Sale will be held on Saturday, October 3 at the Century 21 Gold Castle realty offices, located at the corner of Portland and NW Expressway. Items for sale include furniture, décor, appliances, clothing, holiday, and many other items benefiting Easter Seals. But the weekend of fundraising kicks-off with Friday night’s performance at Louie’s.

“One item that everyone will enjoy at Friday’s concert is the ‘Buy a Song for Your Sweetie’ promotion”, said Reid, explaining that “many of our songs feature girls’ names, such as Jenny, Cecelia, Mary Jane, etc. For certain lucky contributors to Easter Seals, the band will perform that song with their sweetheart’s name inserted into the song lyrics as it is sung. Another promotion will include a limited number of songs where an audience member can come on stage and perform as the lead singer for The Wise Guys on a particular song.

Outdoor seating on the patio and grassy areas open at 5:30pm and the concert begins at 8:30pm. Lawn chairs and/or blankets are suggested. Louie’s will have extra staff positioned outside for more convenient food and beverage sales.

Homeland Charity Classic

For the past 19 years, Homeland has hosted the “Homeland Charity Classic,” while personally planning and directing the event from start to finish. On June 2 of last year, scores of golfers joined together at the Oak Tree Golf & Country Club to lend their support and have a great time!  The fun and festivities raised more than $27,000 for Easter Seals Oklahoma.   Homeland Stores has been a partner of Easter Seals Oklahoma since the 1980’s and have continued to strengthen that partnership over the years. More than one million dollars has been contributed to Easter Seals Oklahoma through the generous support of Homeland Stores and we are grateful for their continued partnership.
